Gehrig-Stitt Chapel & Cremation Service, LLC is in charge of Dennis' care and funeral arrangements.
Dennis was born on November 23, 1950, in Sidney, NE to Bud and Betty (Bell) Makey. He attended Gurley High School where he participated and lettered in football, basketball, track as well as receiving the four-year Gold Chorus Pin. He was also active in Student Government and the Arts before graduating with the class of 1969.
He married Candi Radtke in 1971 and together they had two wonderful children, Jeff and Ashley. Dennis worked for Filsinger's and Nienhueser Construction & Excavating before retiring. He was also a member of the Army National Guard. He served on the Sidney Police Department, Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and also a member of the Cheyenne County Sheriff Reserve. He enjoyed watching golf, taking the occasional motorcycle ride and taking his camper and four-wheeler to the Wyoming mountains.
Dennis is survived by his son Jeff and wife Charlotte Makey of Hutchinson, KS, daughter Ashley Makey of Sidney, NE, brothers Gerry wife Peggy Makey of Severance, CO, Tim wife Robin Makey of Seward, NE, Bill Makey of Sidney, NE and sister Linda Nienhuser of Gurley, NE. Grandchildren; Kaden (Ashley) Makey of Hutchinson, KS, Kyle Makey of Houston, TX, Chalie Makey and boyfriend Tanner of Hutchinson, KS ; great grandchildren; Payton and Braxton Makey of Hutchinson, KS, brother-in-law Hank wife Christine Radtke of Sidney, NE and many nieces, nephews, and long-time friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Candi Makey, parents Bud and Betty Makey, father and mother-in-law Clayton and Betty Lou Radtke.
The Makey family would also like to extend a special thank you to all the staff of Pole Creek Estates for all the loving care they provided.
