Dennis Michael Mecum

Dennis Michael Mecum, 75, of Concord, California, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2025.

He was born on October 2, 1949, in Oregon City, Oregon.

Dennis graduated from Clackamas High School and went on to earn an Associate Degree in Fire Science from Los Medanos College. On December 6, 1969, he married Carolyn S. Paquito, beginning a loving partnership that would span decades.

Dennis dedicated over 25 years of service to the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, where he built a respected and meaningful career.

Outside of his professional life, Dennis had a deep passion for falconry, gardening, and coin collecting-hobbies that reflected his curiosity, patience, and love for nature and history.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn, and his sons: Aaron Mecum and his wife, Chloe; Trevor and his wife, Luciana; Ryan and his wife, Pauline; and Jared and his wife, Gladys. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Noah and Joshua; Anastasia, Alexander, and Natasha; Jaymielyn, Aiden, and Lena; and Olivia and Victoria Mecum. He is also survived by his older brother, Christopher Mecum, and will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends who loved him dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on August 13, 2025, at Ouimet Brothers Concord Funeral Chapel.
