Dennis Edward Miller was born on June 2, 1950, the third child of William and Norma Miller. His father passed away from illness before Dennis was born, leaving his mother-an elementary school teacher-to raise a newborn, a young daughter, Sharon, and a young son, Ron, on her own. From the beginning, Dennis' life was marked by resilience and quiet strength.
After graduating from high school in Portland, Oregon, Dennis spent several years living with his older brother Ron and his family, forming bonds that would remain steadfast throughout his life. In time, he found meaningful work in the automotive industry, first as a mechanic and later as the manager of a service and auto parts store. He ultimately retired from Smolich Motors, having earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike through his integrity, skill, and dependable work ethic.
For the last 15 years of his life, Dennis faced chronic and complex health challenges. Despite these hardships, he met each day with perseverance. He ultimately succumbed to an aggressive form of leukemia, leaving behind a legacy of loyalty, helpfulness, and quiet fortitude.
In his younger years, Dennis was always ready to lend a hand to family and friends-especially when it came to fixing cars. His mechanical know-how and willingness to help were a blessing to many. He was also an avid fisherman and loved spending time hunting with his nephews and grand-nephews, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come.
Dennis will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to family and gruff kindness he showed throughout his life. Dennis was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald William Miller. His sister in law, Marylin June Bilderback Miller, followed him in death just 20 days after his passing.
He is survived by his nephews Ron (Alfie), Rich (Nadine), and Randy (Teresa) Miller; and their families, all of whom carry his memory with deep affection and gratitude.
His presence will be missed, but his legacy lives on in the lives he touched.
