Dennis James Modec

Dennis J. Modec, age 83, of Cloquet, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025.

He was born on May 3, 1942, in Eveleth, MN, the son of Frank and Mary Modec. Denny graduated from Eveleth High School, graduated from University of Minnesota Duluth with a teaching degree and University of Minnesota Twin Cities with Masters in Education Degree. He was united in marriage to Susan Modec on August 8, 1964, in Eveleth. Denny was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church and was active with the Cloquet Education Foundation and the Cloquet Country Club.

Denny took great pride in overseeing the education of Cloquet during his many years as the high school principal. During his extended retirement, he enjoyed spending time with family, gardening, golfing, playing blackjack and doing the weekly coffee with his friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Susan; and daughter Katie Hall.

He is survived by daughter, Christine (Michael) Bondi; brother, Tom Modec; five grandchildren, Lauren Bondi, Abigail Bondi, Sydney Bondi, Alex Hall, and Maggie Hall; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet and will be followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Internment service will be at New Calvary Cemetery, followed with a luncheon in the church social hall.
