Denny Nelson, 76, of Cut Bank, Montana, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2025, in his hometown. Born on November 10, 1948, to Hazel Clark and Victor Nelson, Denny lived a life defined by service, hard work, and deep devotion to his family.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1968 to 1971, including 18 months in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he married Ellen Berg on May 5, 1972. Ellen was the love of his life. Together they raised two children, Korey and Daren, and built a life rooted in love, honesty, and resilience. Denny was truly respected for how he cared and loved for his family.
Denny worked for several local ranchers before finding his calling in the oil and gas industry. He held various roles over the years and retired in 2015 as a respected contract pumper.
In retirement, Denny enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, tinkering in the garage, and most of all, spending time with his “chic,” his children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen; daughter Korey and her children Shawn (wife Alyssa and daughter Maykraya), Deon, and Malea; son Daren (wife Emily) and their children Gavin and Breelyn; brother Andy; and sisters Debby, Becky, and Brenda. He was preceded in death by his brothers Mike, Sam, and Jimmy, and sister Kerma.
Denny was known for his loyalty, strong work ethic, and unwavering dedication to his family. Per his wishes, no formal service will be held. A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
