Dennis Charles O'Connor

Dennis Charles O'Connor, 66, of Leesburg, Florida and Dover-Foxcroft, Maine passed away at his home March 1, 2026.

Dennis was born a leap year baby in Dover-Foxcroft on February 29, 1960 to Gwendolyn Marie (Jansson) O'Connor and Donald Timothy O'Connor. He attended local schools and graduated from Foxcroft Academy, class of 1978.

As a youth, he developed a natural ability for athletics, was a three-sport athlete in high school and a founding member of the Dover-Foxcroft youth hockey program where he excelled on the ice as a defenseman and enforcer. Later, his competitive spirit led him to run two New York City marathons.

He worked his entire career in the telecommunications industry, most recently in Florida where he resided for the past 20+ years.

If you ever met Dennis, you were most likely greeted with his sideways sense of humor, a wry smile and a knowing spark in his eye. Always a smile on his face with a roll-up-his-sleeves willingness to help out, he will be remembered for his very positive attitude.

For his close friends and family who are fortunate enough to have known the kindness in his soul and the warmth in his heart, this loss is particularly painful. Yet we will fill the hole in our hearts with an abundance of love and laughter that Dennis so generously shared throughout his lifetime.

Dennis is predeceased by his parents, as well as his nephew, Tommy McNamara. He is survived by his siblings: Mary O'Connor, Ann McNamara (Tom), Kathy O'Connor, Carol Lovett (John) Chris O'Connor and Kevin O'Connor. Dennis was loved by his nieces and nephews: Connor and Gavin McNamara; Ariel and Evan Worthing; and Kavvanah O'Connor.

A graveside service will be held in Bangor Me. at a later date.
