Dennis Perry Obituary
MECHANICSBURG – Dennis R. Perry, 77 of Springfield, passed away on Feb. 5, 2026 in South Brooks Nursing Home.
He was born on Dec. 23, 1948 in Champaign County, the son of William R. and Helen (Ogden) Perry.
Dennis proudly served his community as a police officer with the Springfield Police Department, retiring after 26 years of dedicated service. Throughout his career, he was known for his steady presence, professionalism, and commitment to protecting others.
He was a member of F.O.P. Lodge #72 in Springfield, the Springfield Police Patrolman's Association, and the Springfield Police Retired Officers Association. His involvement reflected both his pride in the profession and the strong bonds he shared with fellow officers.
He was a simple and private man who valued his quiet life and the people closest to him. Though he did not seek attention, his years of service and the respect he earned speak volumes about the kind of man he was.
He is preceded in death by his parents William and Helen Perry.
Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 12 in the Maple Grove Cemetery.

I was so saddened to see that Denny had passed away. He grew up across from my Grandparents house and flower shop. A neighbor boy as my grandparents called him. I fondly remember his parents as that neighborhood was filled with friends and neighbors. God bless you and give you comfort and peace.
