Jimmy Perry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by The Wilton Mortuary on Feb. 13, 2026.
Jimmy "Jim" A. Perry, 88, formerly of Farmington, Illinois, passed away on Monday, February 9, 2026, in Pittsboro, NC.

Jim was born in Braggs, Oklahoma, on April 7, 1937, to George Perry and Ruby Marshall. He met Dorothy Murphy in 1956, while he was stationed at the Hanna City Air Force Station, and they were married in Braggs, Oklahoma, on December 31 that same year. They were together for 69 years. She survives.

Also surviving are his daughters, Penny Perry-Mitchum and Becki (Chris Runken) Perry; grandchildren: Cale Evan (Jenny Song) Fields, Cameron (Renée) Fields, and Rhiannon Perry; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Duane Perry, and siblings: Charles (Jerry) Perry, Bernice Perry, and Gladys Garner.

Jim joined the U.S. Air Force at age 17. Following his time in the military, he obtained his GED from Farmington High School.

He worked as a TV repairman for Countrywide TV in Farmington for 10 years before going on to work as an electrician for Caterpillar. He retired from Caterpillar in 1997.

He was a member of the Farmington Moose Lodge and American Legion Post #140.

Jim was a simple man who enjoyed spending time with his brother (with whom he shared a birthday) and valued time spent with the rest of his family. He was an excellent bowler and avid golfer, and he appreciated a good game of cards played with friends. He will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by those lucky enough to have known him.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses with UNC Hospice for their compassion and care.

A graveside service will be held at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Farmington on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 11:00 am. A celebration of life will follow at the Farmington Moose Lodge.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or UNC Health Foundation.
