Dennis Isaiah Putman Jr., aged 92, of Wayne Michigan, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2025. He was born on January 4, 1933, in White Plains, Kentucky to the late Dennis Putman Sr. and Otha (James) Phillips. The family moved to Wayne in the early 1940's where he resided for over 80 years. Dennis lived a full life characterized by devotion to his family, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the simple pleasures in life.
He married his high school sweetheart, Sandra D'Pulos, and together they raised a beautiful family. Dennis was father to Marsha (Robert) Remick, Pamela (Tom) Wright, Michael (Susan) Putman, and Stewart Putman. He cherished his role as a grandfather (PaPa) to Christopher, Jonathan, Kevan, Blake, Nick, Greg, Weston, Alex, and Sara. He was also great-grandfather to Mason, Owen, Eva, Natalia, Javier, Diego, Jiovonni, James, Addie, Aldo, and Elijah. Dennis loved his role as a grandfather and took immense pride in all of their accomplishments. Nothing pleased him more than rocking a baby or watching one of his grandkids play a sport.
Dennis retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years. He was a dedicated employee, marked by a commitment to excellence. He was a proud retiree, known as a FORD Man by all who knew him. He always drove a Ford, his kids drive a Ford, and his grandchildren drive a Ford.
Dennis was deeply involved in his community. He served on the Wayne Pension Board, was a past president of the Wayne Historical Society, and was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Wayne for over 70 years. Dennis forged lasting friendships in Wayne that existed until his death.
A man of many interests, Dennis had a particular love for working on cars. He could keep any car running. After saying hello to his children on the phone, he would ask, "How is the car running?" He loved working in his yard, spending time in the sun, and putzing at the family cottage in Ionia during the summer, and his condo in Florida in the winter. Sports played a significant role in his life. He played several high school sports, loved watching sports, and never missed an opportunity to watch his grandchildren play a sport.
Dennis is survived by his sister, Dortha (the late Floyd) LeSuer, and was preceded in death by his sister, the late Wanda Boice. His role as a brother was one he held close to his heart.
As we say goodbye to Dennis, we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with love, hard work, and the joy of everyday moments. He leaves behind a family that will miss him immensely, friends who respect him, and a community that was made better by his contributions.
