Dennis Rose

1944 - 2023

Dennis Howard Rose, 78, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died April 25, 2023. He was born on May 9, 1944, the son of the late Howard and Ethel Rose. Denny graduated from Fairfax High School and married the love of his life, Jane, on May 2, 1964. He worked for 27 years at Giant Food in Frederick, MD. He was known for his funny and charming personality, which made him popular with everyone he met. Denny was most proud of his 38 years of sobriety and active participation in Alcoholics Anonymous. He was also a member of the Brunswick Eagles Aerie 1136 for 40 years and loved playing poker and tip jars there every Friday night. He was an avid football and baseball fan and loved the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals.

He is survived by his son Michael Rose and wife Charlotte of Keedysville, MD; two daughters Shelly Christensen and husband Chris of Hagerstown, MD, and Janet Ryder and husband Paul Holcombe of Brunswick, MD; five grandchildren, Courtney and Aaron Rose, Regan Ryder, Travis and Brandon Christensen; his brother William Rose and wife Ann, two sisters Barbara Tabor and husband Ivan, and Jeanette Pope and husband Fred. He is also survived by sister and brother in-laws, Doris Bridges, Ada Kranenberg, JoAnn Milbourne, and Jerry Milbourne.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jane, infant son Dennis Rose Jr., and his brother, Raymond.

Services will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 11:00am at the Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, 256 Halltown Road, Harpers Ferry, WV. Interment will be held at Brownsville Heights Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, 6:00pm - 8:00pm, and two hours prior to service on Tuesday.
