Dennis Sai Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Homelani Memorial Park on Dec. 18, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we share of the passing of our family patriarch, Dennis Kapua Sai who transitioned on November 21, 2025 surrounded by his ohana. He was fondly referred to as Daddy, Papa, Puna, Brother, Uncle and Friend. Dennis was born on January 8, 1939 to Evangeline Ikuwa and David Sai in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was the second oldest of 5 siblings, Ronald, Marlene, Yvonne and Gary. He grew up in Kapahulu near Crane Park and attended St. Louis School and Kaimuki High School. Dennis entered the Navy soon after high school gaining experience, training and an opportunity to see America. He worked at Hawaiian Telephone Company for 31 years until he retired in 1992. Dennis loved and married Mary Nanea Reeves of Kuliouou, O'ahu on June 29, 1963 and was married for 57 years. They lived in Kuliouou Valley for many years until Nanea retired then as a family moved to Olaa, Hawaii Island. While in Kuliouou, they had 3 children, Keanu, Louie and Katherine. He enjoyed keeping busy and being involved in organizations like the Hawai Kai Jaycees, Hui Nalu Canoe Club (the Master's crew), Aloha Week Festivals and Prince Kuhio Hawaii Civic Club and Choral group to name a few. Dennis enjoyed life and loved his family. He was known as Mr. Aloha, never shy to tell others his life story, so proud of his children, grandchildren and great grands. We miss and love you very much! A hui hou, until we meet again Daddy and Papa!

He is preceded in death by the love of his life, Nanea, son, Louis, son-in-law, Kevin, brothers, Jiggy and Gary; parents, Evangeline & David Sai and in-laws, Rose & Henry Keanu Reeves. He is survived by son, Keanu (Kina); daughter, Katherine; grandsons, Kapua and Kiha (Savannah) and great grandchildren, Kaimi and Kanaina. He is also survived by sisters, Goofy and Pee Wee as well as sister-in-laws, a brother-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
