Dennis M. Sapp

Dennis Michael Sapp entered into rest on December 27, 2025, at the Rainy Lake Medical Center with his loving wife, Mary by his side. Dennis was born on June 27th, 1957, to Roy and Bernice Sapp in International Falls, MN. He graduated in 1975, from Falls High School. Upon graduation he began working for Boise Cascade and retired after 42 years of service in the pulp and bleach departments. On October 5th 1990 Dennis was united in marriage to Mary Maki.
Dennis was an avid outdoorsman. The majority of his life involved fishing, hunting, and exploring the woods and waters. He shared many special hunts with his hunting companions, Mary and Sage. Dennis loved his archery and competed at the state level placing 5th. He was great with a shotgun and loved shooting trap and skeet. Dennis was also a great pool shot and played leagues with teammates from the Viking Bar. He lived to ice fish for lake trout on Canadian waters with Doug Galusha. Dennis was particularly proud of his 80 lb sturgeon that he caught on the Rainy River. Another highlight of his life was getting a once in a lifetime hunt for moose in Minnesota with Mary and Sage. The bagged a bull moose on opening day of the 2000 season. Dennis had an enormous knowledge of trapping, guns, ballistics, and reloading.
Dennis was famous for his barbeque ribs and hosted many barbeques. He loved making meatloaf and shared small pans with his little buddy Emerson. Dennis and Mary loved picking morel and oyster mushrooms and berries and making jellies and jams. Together they did a lot of pressure cooking using Great-Grandma Routsi's pressure cooker. Dennis always looked forward to spring. He couldn't wait to get flowers and watch his creations grow in his raised flower beds. Dennis lived his life with grace, quietness, a compassion for the outdoors, and sharing his life with Mary. Dennis was an organ donor and gifted his eyes to a recipient so that individual can see and shoot a big buck.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Mary; little Lilly, Mike and Ike, Opal, Ruby, and a little flock of chickens; cousins, Pat and Jim Rundell, Peggy (Emlaw) Kadett and his many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Molly.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Green-Larsen Mortuary. Funeral services for Dennis will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Green-Larsen Mortuary in International Falls, MN. Burial will follow at Ericsburg Cemetery in Ericsburg, MN. After the Internment a celebration of life will be held at Sammy's Pizza in International Falls.
