New Athens, Illinois - Dennis Schneider, 71, of New Athens, IL, born April 25, 1954, in Red Bud, IL, passed away on Monday October 13, 2025, at his residence. Dennis was a well-known race car driver and mechanic who operated Schneider Motorsport in New Athens, IL for 50 years specializing in C2 - C7 Corvettes and also marine inboard & outboard motors and general auto mechanics as well. He was a member of the National Council of Corvette Clubs, the Sports Car Club of America, the Kaskaskia Valley Corvette Club and the 20th Street Old Timers Club.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents - Edward and Dolores (Just) Schneider.
He is survived by his dear longtime companion and partner - Brenda Myers of Alton, IL, his brother - Doug (Margo) Schneider of Ballwin, MO, and
2 nieces - Cassandra (Josh) Bradley and Jessica (Sebastian) Rollen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dennis's honor be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL.
Visitation: 9 am - 12 pm on Saturday October 25, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL
Funeral: 12 pm on Saturday October 25, 2025, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Athens, IL with Rev. Lyle Buettner officiating. In keeping with Dennis's wishes, cremation will take place after the services.
Heil-Schuessler Funeral Home in New Athens, IL is in charge of arrangements.
