Our amazing and beloved father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, Dennis Joel Stout, 81, of Mesquite NV., passed away on Friday, November 17th, 2023, due to challenges associated with Parkinsons disease. He was surrounded by his loving family.
Dennis was born on December 28th, 1941, to Richard Hosea Stout and Cleo Anderson in Idaho Falls, Idaho. He grew up in Ammon, Idaho and was the fourth member of a blended family with two sisters (Janice and Enid) and a brother (Richard). Dennis attended and graduated from Bonneville High School, Idaho Falls, ID., in 1959 where he made lifelong friendships and was a member of the high school band playing the trumpet. After high school, Dennis joined the United States Navy and became a Radioman 2nd Class. He served on the USS Bennington Aircraft Carrier during the Korean War and continued his love of music by being a bugeler aboard the ship. He became a Telecommunications Engineer for Mountain Fuel and Questar Gas and made some incredible friendships while building a successful 30-year career there.
He met the love of his life and wife of 61 years, Carol Stout, at the local car hop in Idaho Falls as teen-agers. They were married on June 10th, 1961, in Idaho Falls, ID. Dennis and Carol lived across the world while Dennis was serving in the Military. They spent time in Hawaii, Virginia, and Alaska where their son, Rodney Stout, was born. After completing Dennis’ service in the Navy, Dennis and Carol settled in the Ogden UT area where they lived for almost 30 years. Dennis and Carol spent the last 22 years in Mesquite NV. enjoying their retirement. They made some amazing friendships there and enjoyed their time in the warm weather. During his time in Mesquite, Dennis became very engaged with his ward family and received his Temple Endowment for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on July 22nd, 2014. After his wife’s baptism, Dennis was sealed to Carol and his family for time and all eternity on November 14th, 2015, in the St. George UT. Temple.
Dennis was the epitome of kindness and generosity. He was always seeing people as the best version of themselves. His infectious and endearing personality, made him instantly likeable. Dennis was an incredible father and grandfather. He was always giving of his time and resource to his son and all of his friends and family. He always greeted his friends and family with a deep voiced “how you doing?” Dennis was an avid golfer and passed that love to his son, Rodney. He had a love for flying and had his pilot’s license. He also enjoyed sporting events and his beloved Weber State University Wildcats.
Dennis was predeceased by his Eternal Companion, Carol Stout, and his parents, Richard Hosea Stout and Cleo Anderson. He is survived by his son, Rodney Stout, daughter-in-law, Tonya Stout, and his cherished grandchildren, Dylan, Paris and Luke Stout.
The family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing and loving staff at Fairfield Village where they took exceptional care of Dennis and gave him their abundant love and compassion. They are incredible and caring people.
