Dennis Lee Swim, 83, died Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life for Dennis will be held 3 pm Saturday, July 12th at Iles Grandview Park Chapel where his family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Dennis was born August 21, 1941 in Des Moines to Gerald and Josephine (Ford) Swim. He was a graduate of East High School and worked as a Sheet Metal Worker for many years, retiring in 2001. Dennis was a member of Local 45. He enjoyed playing and coaching baseball and softball, fishing, running, biking, boating and bowling. Dennis met the love of his life, Phyllis Connett, while in Junior High School, they married July 28, 1961 - together for 64 years! Dennis was a true family man, he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; children: Christine (Ron) Jacobs of Urbandale, Phillip (Christine) Swim of O'Fallon, MO; grandchildren: Nathan Jacobs, Luc Jacobs, Jessica (Caleb) Julian, Timothy (Sarah) Swim, Zachary Swim, Madison (Matthew) Freese; great grandson, Hudson Julian; and many nieces, nephews and great friends.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Anna Giles, Jerry Swim, William Edward Swim, and Richard Swim.

Dear Phyllis & family, I was saddened to see Denny´s obituary! I have such loving memories of our extended family, "the YF kids" and extend my most sincere condolences.
Mom, Dad and Michael are gone now so it´s just Tommy and I left.
You´re in my prayers.
