Dr. Dennis Allan Wagner MD, 73 of Midland, passed away surrounded by family on July 14, 2024. Dennis was born to the late Charles and Eleanor (Currie) Wagner on December 18, 1950 in Detroit, MI. Dennis married his high school sweetheart and love of his life Kathleen Polder in 1977 and they shared forty-one years loving together until she preceded him in death on April 5, 2018.
After graduating from Allen Park High School, he went to University of Michigan. After completing his undergraduate degree, he went to study medicine at Wayne State. He graduated with his medical degree in general practice. Dennis and Kathleen moved to Midland while Dennis worked in Sanford focusing on Family Practice.
Dennis returned to University of Michigan and became an anesthesiologist in 1991. He worked for 30 years at the MidMichigan Medical Center (MyMichigan Medical Center). Dennis was actively involved with EMS as a first responder since the early 1980s. He was a Deputy Sheriff in Midland County and also the deputy Medical Examiner until 2021. Dennis was the Chief Medical Examiner from 2021 until he retired in 2024. He also was a member of Michigan's D-MAT team.
Dennis is survived by his daughter; Bethany, his son; Paul, his grandsons; Owen & Ethan and his sister; Denise.
He is proceeded in death by his wife; Kathleen.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on July 19, 2024 at Smith-Miner Funeral Home with Pastor Roger Stauffer officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00pm – 8:00pm on July 18, 2024 at the funeral home and from 9:00am until time of service on Friday. He will be laid to rest at Jerome Twp. Cemetery next to his wife immediately following the services at the funeral home.
