Dennis Paddick

1948 - 2024

Jul. 4, 1948 - Feb. 17, 2024 Oblong, Ill. - Dennis "Denny" Paddick, 75, of Oblong, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital from complications from multiple sclerosis.

Denny was born at home in Chauncey on July 4, 1948, to Lyle and Ruby (Madden) Paddick. He grew up on a farm in Hardinville and graduated from Oblong High School in 1966. On July 29, 1967, he married Sherry Taylor.

Denny loved farming and often said how he missed it. He enjoyed buying and selling farm machinery, visiting with friends at the lot, and going to farm sales no matter how bad the weather was. He was also a big toy tractor collector. Denny was a loving husband, father and grandfather who would do anything for his family. Over the years, the family took many fun vacations together. Early on, he and Sherry would take trips in the semi to deliver farm machinery. They also liked to go shopping for antiques in other states. The past few years, he loved playing Chinese Checkers.

Denny is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sherry; his son, Shawn Paddick, Oblong; his daughter and son-in-law, Kendra and Kirk Bailey, Oblong; his two grandchildren, Rowan and Maggie Bailey, Oblong; and a sister, Donna.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024, at 12 pm at Pulliam Funeral Home in Oblong, IL with Bro. Phil Boyd officiating. Visitation will be held at 10 am until the time of funeral services at 12 pm. Interment will follow at Waggoner Cemetery, north of Chauncey.
