Mr. Denny Ray Reid

Denny Ray Reid was born in Love Valley, NC at home on the 28th of December in 1947, during one of seven snow storms that year. At age 65, Denny passed away leaving the memories and historical events remembered by all of those who loved him. Denny began making history when he became the youngest Lt. in the Army at age 18. He went on to receive many awards in his military career. He entered the Army during the Vietnam War where he received the award of Sharp Shooter. After his military career, he built, purchased and operated several businesses. One of the most beloved was the Landmark 1849 Club in Statesville, NC, which was the first of 5 1849 Clubs throughout his live music career. He also began a demolition and grading contracting business, Planet Earth Projects (PEP), which is still known today for its efforts to aid FEMA with disaster relief after Hurricane Katrina and Andrew. Most remembered will be his personality and sense of humor. He loved people and loved life! He was a loving and caring husband, father and friend to all that met him. He will always be remembered for how he helped others throughout his life. Preceded in death by parents Pearl Beshears Reid Miller, and Wiley M. Miller, sisters Fern Jordan and Grace Linney; both of Union County, NC. Survived by wife Rebecca Stallings Reid of Raleigh, sister Shelby Coppolla of Orlando, FL; brothers Marshall and Bobby Reid of Daytona, FL and Wilkesboro, NC; respectively, sons Lance Stines, Robert and Brandon Reid, and grandsons, Alex and Luke Reid.
