Delon Walker passed from this life on Monday, July 31 in Lubbock.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 3, 2023, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 4, 2023, in the Krestridge Funeral Home Chapel.
Delon was born on October 2, 1953, to Bertice and Sam Walker in Littlefield, Texas. Delon began life’s greatest journey in 1979 when his son Zac was born, followed two years later with the birth of his second son Dustin in 1981.
Delon moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1987. While there, he met the love of his life and his best friend, Shelli. They married on July 24, 1990. From this marriage, he gained another wonderful joy in his first daughter, Kori. The day after they married, the happy couple moved back to Levelland to start their new life. In 1992, they welcomed into the world their youngest daughter, Kati Rose.
Delon became the manager at Roy Reid Tire Company and raised his family in Levelland. While at Roy Reid, Delon enjoyed being involved in the community, attending Dale Carnegie courses and served as an active member of the Levelland Noon Lions Club.
Everybody who was a customer of Roy Reid Tire Company remembers Delon as a friendly face and good conversation. He was happy to help everybody who walked in the door and to make sure they were happy when they left.
After the tire store became McWhorters in the early 2000s, Delon went to work at Worley Welding Inc., where he was soon appointed the foreman of the support department. While there, Delon made lasting friendships with clients and co-workers alike.
Wherever he worked, Delon made sure employees knew they, and their opinions, mattered. He was always willing to listen and meet people where they were.
After 15 years with the company, Delon retired from Worley Welding in 2018. He settled into the life of being Pa and a loving husband.
Delon had a fierce love for good music and even more so, good company. He loved spending time with his family and friends and going for drives through town and the surrounding country.
Delon never met a stranger and could talk to anybody about anything. He also knew when it was time to stop talking and just listen. He enjoyed the simple things in life and taking time to appreciate all this world had to offer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Francis Reid and Marilyn Harper, and brothers-in-law Roy Reid and Johnny Harper II.
His family who will forever cherish his memory include: his wife of 33 years, Shelli; his sons and their families: Zac and Barrett Walker, Ethan, Nevan and Zane; Dustin Walker and Wendi Paulsen, Amanda and Jakob; his daughters and their families, Kori and David Dennis, Mark and Ruth; and Kati and Nate Moody, Hayden and Walker Moody; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Krestridge Funeral Home. (806) 897-1111
