Deolinda (DeSousa) Teixeira, 92, of Fall River, passed away Friday, August 15th, 2025, at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River, surrounded by her family.
She was the loving wife of Carlos Teixeira.
Born in Vila Real, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Candido DeSousa and Carolina (Goncalves) DeSousa.
Deolinda was a homemaker, dedicating herself to cooking for her family and raising her children with love and devotion. She found great joy in knitting, often creating clothes for her children with her own hands. Above all, she was a beloved matriarch who treasured taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a faithful parishioner of Santo Christo Church, where her faith provided strength and community throughout her life.
Along with her husband, Deolinda is survived by her children: Maria Angelina DaCosta and her husband John; Antonio Teixeira and his wife Debra; Candido Teixeira and his wife Jenine; and Fernando Teixeira. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren: Christopher Da Costa and wife Stacy, Alexander Da Costa, Brittany Teixeira, and Dimitri Teixeira; her great-grandchildren: Leandro Da Costa and Rafael Da Costa; several nieces and nephews. She was a remarkable individual, embodying kindness, love, and compassion. Her presence always radiated warmth and tranquility always making people feel loved and wanted.
A visitation will be held Thursday, August 21st, from 5 to 8 PM at the Oliveira Funeral Home at 215 Columbia Street in Fall River.
Her funeral will be held Friday, August 22nd, at 9:00 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Santo Christo Church. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
