Derald Eugene Shippy was born on 9/22/1932 to Frank Shippy and Edna (Heacock) Shippy. He attended country school at Kansas Flats School south of Colome, SD until the 8th grade. Then he continued ranching with his dad on their family farm.

On April 29th, 1956, Derald married the love of his life, Donna Holden in Winner, SD. They shared a remarkable 69 years together. They were blessed with two daughters; Debra and Darla.

In 1959, Derald left the farm and bought his welding shop from Martin Viedt, the old radiator shop in Winner, SD. He was involved in the Clearfield Rodeo Club as a young adult. He was president of the church council and involved in the Lions Club where he was the "Lion of the Year" twice.

Derald is survived by his wife, Donna and his children; Debra (Brad) Assman of Winner, SD, Darla (Jeff) DeKraai of Sturgis, SD. He had 3 grandchildren; Jeremiah Assman of Casper, WY, Jacob (Jessy) DeKraai of Anchorage, AK, and Chloe (Ryan) Wessler of Detroit Lake, MN and 1 great-grandson, Walter Wessler. He is also survived by his sister, Marlene Nebola, Yankton, SD and brother Chan (Gert) Shippy of Yankton, SD and many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.
