Mr. Belmonte was born December 28, 1961 in Garden Grove, California. Derek was raised in San Francisco, where he loved being in and around the Pacific Ocean. Derek moved to Silver Springs, Nevada where he lived for several years before moving to San Angelo in March of 2025. He was a Respiratory Therapist before his injury. Derek will be remembered for his bravery, courage, and strength fighting through his injury. Derek was an avid Los Angeles Dodger and San Francisco 49ers fan.
Survivors include his life partner, Lori Pilz of the home; a daughter, Mel Peiser and husband Jason and 2 grandchildren all of California; a son, Christian Belmonte of California; and a brother, Curt Belmonte of Mississippi.
