Derek Duffield Obituary
Born on March 10, 1977, in Elyria, Ohio, Derek was a lifelong resident of Vermilion. He graduated from Vermilion High School in 1995 and built a dedicated career at Fairview Park Hospital, where he began as a phlebotomist and advanced to the role of lab technician.
Music was Derek's true passion, and he showcased his talent as a drummer in several bands over the years. He also enjoyed target shooting, riding his motorcycle and cherished time spent with his family, friends, and his beloved dogs. He will be remembered for his contagious smile and positive outlook on life.
Derek is survived by his father, Robert Michael (Marty Williston) Duffield of Huron; his brothers, Christopher (Corinne) Danicki of TX and Matt Duffield of Cleveland; and his sister, Jan (Jason) Cook of Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Sue Duffield.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until the time of a memorial service at 6:00 p.m. at Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion, Ohio.

Derek began as my MLT student, then was hired to be my lab assistant at Tri-C. He was the best....I could always count on him and his professional spirit. He ended up my friend-one whose sense of humor and smiles made my life better. I will always remember his kindness, you will be missed Derek-you deserve a rest in Heaven-you fought the battles with all you had, God bless.
