Derek Ray Wesley Jones, age 32, of
Broken Bow, Oklahoma, died, on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 25, 1991, to Danny Ray Sr. and Edith Faye Wesley Jones in
Idabel, Oklahoma.
Derek, a vibrant and adventurous soul, embraced life with a contagious enthusiasm for a variety of interests. His fondness for camaraderie and shared experiences was evident in the cherished moments spent watching WrestleMania with his brother, creating lasting memories filled with excitement and brotherly bonds.
At the center of Derek's heart was his beloved companion, Fluffy, a testament to his deep connection with animals. His affection for his dog reflected his nurturing spirit and the joy he found in companionship.
Derek's love for the outdoors extended to activities like hiking, power poling, and playing cornhole. His adventurous spirit also led him to engage in unique pastimes like turtle racing, attending car shows, and the thrill of riding go-karts. The simple joys of carnivals and flea markets held a special place in his heart, where he could explore, enjoy, and appreciate the diversity of experiences.
In his leisurely moments, Derek found joy in looking at antiques, strolling through flea markets, and soaking in the nostalgia of the past. As the co-pilot who never got lost, he navigated through life with a sense of direction and purpose, savoring the journey with a lighthearted spirit.

Derek is preceded in death by his grandparents, Williston and Delia Wesley, Gilbert Jones and Susie Jones; two uncles, Williston Wesley, Jr., and Bobby Wesley; two aunts, Charlene Columbus and Lisa Wesley; three cousins, Billy Joe Davis, Kirstie Wesley and Brittany Wesley; and great-grandparents, Ben and Sema Carterby and Isaac and Helen Battiest.
Derek is survived by his loving parents; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Joey Wade, Kyle and Ashley Jones, Danny Jones, Jr., Dillon and Kendra Jones and Dusty Jones; uncles and aunts, Arita and Sherrill Battiest, Gary and Nahmee Jones, Tracey and Robbie Tisho, Joseph Jones, Geraldine Wright, Jimmy and Debbie Wesley, Bennie Wesley, Janelle Wesley, Frank Tonihka, Jolene and Greene Dale Davis, Howard and Lemanda Wesley, Johnny Columbus, Louise Laney and Glenda Wesley; grandmother, Minnie Jones; two nephews, Bryson Jones and Jackson Jones; two nieces, Danielle Jones and Brianna Jones; special friends, Pat Ashton, Rayson Gibson, Morgan James and John Smith; several other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 22, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home Chapel in
Broken Bow, Oklahoma with Brother Greene Dale Davis and Brother Edwin Findley officiating. Interment will follow at the Broken Bow Cemetery in
Broken Bow, Oklahoma. A wake service will be Thursday, December 21, 2023, from 6-8 P.M. at the Bowser Family Funeral Home in
Broken Bow, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers will be Joey Wade, Kyle Jones, Danny Jones, Jr., Dillon Jones, Dusty Jones and Danny Jones, Sr. Honorary pallbearers are Tawanna Adams, Charolette Pondexter, Evelyn Hallford, Jolene Davis and Bryson Jones.
