Taft – Derek Rene Rodriguez passed away on April 1, 2024. He was 33.
Derek was born on December 10, 1990 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Nancy (Tamez) and Rene Rodriguez. He was a lifelong resident of Taft.
Derek was employed by Rod Con Services, where he worked in the family business side by side with his father. Derek loved hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family. He was a sports enthusiast; sports were his passion. Derek was a devoted Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros fan. He will always be remembered as someone who would do anything for his family. Derek was close to all of his family, especially his sister Rylee. He will always be our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend who will live on in our hearts forever.
Preceding in death are grandparents: Albert and Irma Tamez; Rudolfo and Juanita Rodriguez.
Survivors include his parents: Rene and Nancy Rodriguez; brother: Rene Rodriguez, Jr. (Alyssa); sister: Rylee Breann Rodriguez; nephews: Ace Rodriguez and Colton Rodriguez; niece: Brooklynn Rodriguez, all from Taft, Texas; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends.
Visitation will begin Friday, April 5, 2024, 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel, Sinton. A Holy Rosary will be recited the same evening, 7:00 PM at the funeral home. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, April 6, 2024, 1:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Church, Taft. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bayside, Texas.
Pallbearers will be Rene Rodriguez, Jr., Cory Rodriguez, Hobby Rodriguez, Ruben Tamez, John Lopez, Raul Gonzales, Jr., Albert Tamez, Jr. and Ruben Tamez, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ace Rodriguez and Colton Rodriguez.
