Derek Prentiss Sheridan, 48, of Houston, TX, passed away early Saturday morning, September 13, 2025, after a brief illness.

Derek was born on January 4, 1977, in Missoula, MT. He graduated from Pea Ridge High School and later earned a B.S. in Political Science from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He spent most of his career working as a Golf Professional at courses in the greater Atlanta, Georgia area, Knoxville, Tennessee and, most recently, in Houston, Texas. He was known by his colleagues for his dedication to getting the job done right and working as a team, along with his ability to keep things lively with plenty of jokes and laughter.

Derek was a kind and loving father, son, and brother and a loyal and genuine friend. He was outgoing, compassionate, and never met a stranger, always making others feel welcome and valued. Derek loved sports and politics but especially cherished a good debate on either topic. He could be playful and quite funny, often with an edge of sarcasm.

Derek is preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Pamela and David Bolerjack, and brother, Timothy Bolerjack. He is survived by his former wife, Leah Sheridan, and their son, Lewis Sheridan, his father and stepmother, Bill and Joan Sheridan, his sister, Zahavah Sheridan, his father- and mother-in-law, Roy and Karen Bullard, his sister-in-law, Jennifer Matthews, and his nephew, Shane Bolerjack.

The family would like to thank Derek's friends for their ongoing care and support. In honor of Derek, memorials may be made to the First Tee - Greater Houston or the American Civil Liberties Union.
