Derrick was a mentor and father figure to my daughter Tondalaya. She would often consult with him before making several major decisions in her life. DeeDee and the entire Jones family, I am truly grateful for Derrick and for all of you for the love that you have shown us. Derrick was a blessing! Rest in peace.

Derrick and I worked together at Newark Station , and shared a common interest in basketball and organizing and playing in benefit games across New Jersey. We kept in touch over the years with his favorite subject being family and friends. I will miss the phone calls of an exceptional friend who I always called D.J. Rich Schober NJSP Retired

A fine Trooper, detective, supervisor and man. I first met Derrick when he helped our squad when his expertise helped solve several thefts. When we got ready to bring the young defendant to jail Derrick had the young man call his mom and apologize. Always smiling. Peace and love to his family.

Worked with Derrick for many years in Atlantic City. Dependable, reliable, just a rock solid guy who was always a pleasure to be with. Every day with Derrick was a good day. My sincere condolences to his family.
