Derrick Theodore Shuler

Derrick Theodore Shuler, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on December 26, 2025, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 61. Derrick was born on March 13, 1964, in Summerfield, Florida, and spent his childhood there, surrounded by a large and loving family.

Derrick was a proud graduate of Lake Weir High School, class of 1982, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. After graduation, he dedicated his professional life to the community as a Store Manager at Winn Dixie in Belleview, Florida. His work ethic and leadership were an inspiration to many. In addition to his career at Winn Dixie, Derrick enjoyed working alongside his friend Derron James, tackling various projects with enthusiasm and a can-do attitude.

A die-hard fan of the Florida Gators, Derrick's passion for his team was unmatched. He could often be found cheering them on, displaying his loyalty and spirit in every game. His love for fishing provided him with countless hours of tranquility and joy, as he embraced the serenity of the outdoors. Derrick also had a fondness for his daily coffee, a simple pleasure that he savored.

Among Derrick's favorite pastimes were watching his beloved TV shows Spartacus, Vikings, and Law & Order. These programs brought excitement and adventure into his life, and he looked forward to every episode with eager anticipation.

Derrick's shared deep connections with his family and friends. He is survived by his devoted children, Latoya Fuller, Randall Shuler, and Keisha Shuler. His grandchildren, Tayven, Edajha, Brian, and Brinyah, brought immense joy to his life, as did his great-grandchildren, Kadence, Kamryn, and Kaiden. Derrick's siblings, Neen, Nate, Donnie, Larry, Jerry, Terry, Lisa, Kathy, Dana, and PapaDoo, will fondly remember their brother's laughter and love. His special niece Kayla and Ozbrina, as well as his special cousins Derron and Melinda James, held a unique place in his heart. Derrick was also blessed with a lifelong friendship with Michelle, who remained a steadfast presence in his life following their divorce.

Predeceased by both parents, and siblings Casey Shuler, Sherry, Shuler and Farrah Shuler, Derrick's memory will be cherished and kept alive by the many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were touched by his warm presence.

Derrick Theodore Shuler lived a life full of dedication, love, and laughter. His legacy of kindness, loyalty, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew him. As we say goodbye to a man who was so much to so many, we take comfort in knowing that Derrick's spirit will forever be a guiding light in the lives of his loved ones.
