Milton Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Roberts of Ocala East Chapel on Feb. 18, 2026.
Milton Smith: A man of very few words whose bark was far bigger than his bite; the kindest heart

ever known, always giving and expecting nothing in return; his word, as good as gold!

Milton Smith, 76, passed away peacefully February 10th, 2026, in Ocala, Florida.

Milton Smith was born on November 5th, 1949, in Stockton, Alabama to Rose Ella and Columbus

Smith, Sr. He grew up in Stockton, Alabama and graduated from Douglasville High School, Bay

Minette, Alabama. He continued his education at Tuskegee Institute on a baseball scholarship

where he was a pitcher for the Tuskegee Tigers. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in

Health and Physical Education in 1974.

Milton was employed at Lance Incorporated. for 31 years, starting as a salesman and working his

way up to Branch Manager.

The highlights of his life were being at a ball field; from coaching his sons and watching them play

and later watching his sons coach. That love continued down to his grandkids. Can't omit a trip to

his favorite grocery store Publix.

He would relax watching his favorite NBA team, the Golden State Warriors. He was a "Die-Hard"

Alabama Football fan until his youngest son, Marquez attended Clemson and then he had to cheer

for them, too.

Milton LOVED his family!! He enjoyed conversations on the phone with his siblings, nieces and

nephews. He enjoyed family reunions, making trips to casinos and simply observing on the

"BOOK". Milton often talked about his boys...the chef, the coach and the ball player. He, along with

his boys, his brother Lum and nephew Moriya spent countless hours fishing at the Deer Pointe

Damn in Panama City, Florida. They would catch their limit of specs and later turn around and

catch the limit again. They would often talk about Milton and all the snacks he would

pack...wondering whether they were going to fish or just eat out of a lunch box instead of a

tacklebox...

His son Marlos, along with his siblings: Alonzo, Lula, John, Dorothy, Theresa, Columbus Jr. and

Richard, preceded him in death. He will forever be remembered by his loving and doting wife of 52

years, Judy, two sons: Milton Smith (Heather), Marquez Smith (Skye), two sisters: Sara Bentley of

Lawrenceville, Georgia and Mildred Glasper- his twin (Charles) of Jefferson City, Missouri, sister-

in-law Florestine Smith of Marion, Alabama and 8 grandchildren: Marley, Camryn, Khalil, Koby,

DaCoda, Indie, Soren and Madden all of Ocala, Florida and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins

and friends…
