Published by Legacy on Feb. 16, 2026.
Bruce Floyd Barton, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026, in Ocala, Florida, at the age of 77. Born on December 4, 1948, in Jamestown, New York, Bruce spent his early years in a vibrant household filled with love and camaraderie.

Bruce grew up in New York, where he was nurtured by his parents, Glenn and Ethel Barton. He was preceded in death by them, along with his five sisters-Marian DeNardo, Betty Pelliggrinelli, Lila Hilliman, Faith Harrington, and Edith Barton-and two brothers, David and Bud Barton.

Throughout his life, Bruce was known for his gentle spirit and artistic talent. He had a passion for drawing and found great joy in capturing the beauty of bald eagles, which he admired deeply. Bruce had an innate ability to connect with children and animals, forming bonds that were cherished by all who knew him.

He resided in Fort McCoy, Florida, for the last 14 years, where he lived with his sister Cora Wright and her husband LeRoy. During this time, Bruce became an integral part of the community, completing his Class 2 Citizen Academy Partnership for volunteer work with the Marion County Sheriff's Office. His kind heart and willingness to help others left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered.

Surviving Bruce are his three sisters: Susan Davis of Bath, New York; Cora Wright (LeRoy) of Fort McCoy, Florida; and Rose Logan (Charles) of Clymer, New York. He is also survived by his brother, Basil Barton of Jamestown, New York, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will carry forward his legacy of kindness and compassion.

Bruce's educational journey included many years of learning at the Achievement Center in Jamestown, New York, where he developed skills and friendships that enriched his life.

In keeping with Bruce's wishes and gentle nature, no services will be held at this time. His family and friends will honor his memory in their hearts, cherishing the moments shared with a man who brought light into their lives.

Bruce Floyd Barton will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
