Derwin Rish Obituary
A private ceremony will be held later in McClellanville, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Future Farmers of America at Pelion High School, 600 Lydia Dr, Pelion, SC 29123.
Derwin was born on January 12, 1957, in Pelion, SC, to Bennett and Annie Belle (Steele) Rish. He graduated from Pelion High School in 1975, where he served as a member of the track team, the basketball team, and the Future Farmers of America. Derwin drove a school bus during his senior year and also was substitute teacher for the FFA class at Pelion High School.
Derwin worked over 50 years in farming, trucking, and construction, working at Fogle Brothers Farm & Warehouse and as a subcontractor for Mungo Construction. He was also the owner of Dixie Wholesale Supply Company in West Columbia, SC.
Surviving is his wife, Marjorie Burnett Rish of Pelion; brother, Edwin Rish (Dorothy) of Lexington; sister-in-law, Joyce Rish of Summerville, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and community members.
Derwin was predeceased by his mother, Annie Belle, and his father, Bennett; his brothers, Robert Rish and James Rish.
The family would like to thank the employees of Lexington Medical Center (ED & Oncology), Lexington Brain & Spine, Lexington Oncology, Empyrcan Hospice with a very special thanks to Dr.Johnathan A. Engteamr, Dr. Scott Graupner, and the staff of Empyrcan Hospice. We will never forget your kindness and compassion throughout his journey.
