Dessa Woods Obituary
She was a woman of strength, kindness, and unwavering faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Woods, and her son, James Woods II.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Rebecca Jones, and son-in-law, Jeremy; brother Roy Martin (Juanita), brother John Martin (Sophia), sister Bertie Shoemaker, several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
Dessa found joy in the simple things of life. She loved being outdoors, and nothing made her happier than riding the mower, caring for her yard, and enjoying the beauty of God's creation. Her strong faith carried her through every season of life, and she remained a faithful member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Of all her companions through the years, her dog "Little Girl" was especially dear to her, bringing her comfort and company. She had a strong faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ, and found great peace and joy in gospel music and singing.
She will be remembered for her warm heart, her steadfast faith, and the love she shared with those she came in contact with.
Funeral service and graveside will be held at Morning Star Cemetery at 2pm (605 Morning Star Road, Church Hill, TN 37642) on Wednesday, October 1, 2025. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 PM.
