Detri Smith Obituary
Detri A. Smith, a beloved mother, sister, and friend passed away on July 19th, 2025. She was a residence of Gaffney, SC. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and dedication to family and friends that will always be remembered.
Born on December 08, 1951, to the late Henry and Geneva Smith of Bessemer City, NC. She is survived by her son, Travis Smith (Gaffney, SC); granddaughter, Kourtney Smith (Gaffney, SC); and sisters, Barbara Summerlin (York, SC), Debra Carroll (Franklin, NC) Terry Poston (Crouse, NC) and Phyllis Braswell (Bessemer City, NC). She was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny Smith, Artie Smith, Gary Smith, and Michael Smith.
Detri was passionate about thrifting, her dogs, reading, and political discussions. However, her greatest love was for Jesus, her son, Travis, and her granddaughter, Kourtney.
She will be greatly missed.
As per her request, cremation has taken place; however, a Celebration of Life service will be held per the below:
Place: Carpenter-Porter Funeral Home in Cherryville, NC
Date: July 25, 2025
Time: Receiving of friends – 3:30 pm
Celebration of Life Service – 4:00 pm
