DeVante Javarrus Garrison

     DeVante “Vante” Javarrus Garrison, 31, of Marion, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024, at his residence.

 

     Vante was born in Morganton, NC, on May 22, 1992, to Jerrold Irron Thomas and Jerri Arlene Garrison. He enjoyed singing and creating audio visual memories. He was a fan of sports, especially Pittsburg Steelers football and Duke University basketball. Vante was an excellent cook and was known for being the life of the party. He loved to make people laugh. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. 

 

     He was preceded in death by his paternal great grandmother, Essie Thomas; a great uncle, Donald Thomas; and his god mother, Wanetta Carpenter. 

 

     Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Jerri Pettiford; his father, Irron Thomas; his maternal grandmother, Priscilla Garrison; his maternal grandfather, Sidney Garrison (Retha); his paternal grandmother, Wanda; his paternal grandfather, Jerry Thomas (Christine); five children, Jadian Saulmon, Isaiah Garrison, Lacey South, and twins, Jamir & Zyaire Garrison; two sisters, Larquisha Garrison and Jazmyn Bernard; a brother, Andrew Atkinson; and aunt, Vickey Stinson (Bobby); an uncle, Anthony Garrison; and Vante’s stepfather, Jesse Pettiford. 

 

     A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, February 11, 2024, at the Beam Celebration Center. Pastor Walter Pegues will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., prior to the service, at the Celebration Center.
