Dewayne Evan King, 65, passed away on January 31, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones.

The family will celebrate his life privately at a later date.

Dewayne was born on September 14, 1960 in Oxford, Mississippi to Dillard and Elaine Sims King.

A gifted musician, he found his greatest joy in playing the guitar. Whether strumming a favorite tune at home or performing with his band, his music brought people together and filled every space with warmth. His passion for music was matched only by his love of the land. Dewayne cherished the rhythms of farm life, taking pride in caring for his fields and cows. He saw beauty in the everyday and brought a sense of peace to everyone around him.

Above all, Dewayne was a good man-a neighbor you could always count on, and a friend to anyone in need. His kindness knew no bounds; he was always ready to lend a hand, offer a smile, or share a story. Family was at the heart of everything he did. Dewayne's love for his family was endless-he would do anything for them, at any time, without hesitation.

Dewayne King leaves behind a legacy of music, love, and generosity. He will be deeply missed, but his song will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving parents, Dillard Ellis King Sr., and Elaine Sims King of Abbeville, MS; his sister, Vickey Taylor of Hickory Valley, TN; his two nieces, Rachael Hadorn of Abbeville, and Katie Hurdle of TN; his three nephews, Brandon King of Abbeville, Alex Taylor of OK, and Justin King of Pearl, MS; his two great-nieces, Keira Taylor of OK, and Kellie Hamm of Abbeville; his great nephew, Cody Hadorn of Abbeville; his great-great-niece, Kinsley Hadorn of Abbeville; and his great-great-nephew, Colton Hamm of Abbeville.

The staff at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is honored to serve the family during this challenging season of life. Condolences may be expressed online on his Tribute wall at www.colemanfuneralhomeox.com
