Shirley M Fox,78, of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Oxford Health and Rehab Center.

The family has elected not to host any services and will mourn her passing privately, leaning on one another for support.

Shirley graced this world with her presence on May 12, 1947, as one of the four daughters born to the late William Miller and Lillian Chaplin Miller.

Shirley was a woman of grit, heart, and unmistakable character. Known for her story telling and sharp wit, Shirley left a lasting impression on everyone who crossed her path. She spent many years as a waitress at Sizzler, becoming a familiar and beloved face to coworkers and customers. Later, Shirley began a career at Baptist Memorial Hospital as an Environmental Services Supervisor, retiring there. She was known for her strong work ethic, leadership, and high standards, never afraid to speak her mind and always getting the job done.

Shirley was a devoted sports fan, proudly cheering on Ole Miss and the Kansas City Chiefs. When she wasn't watching a game, she was often tending her flower gardens or working on puzzles.

Above all, Shirley will be remembered for her feisty character, independent spirit, and for living life unapologetically on her own terms. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves behind a loving family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence; two daughters, Stephanie Cumella and her husband Stephen of Jacksonville, Florida; Stacy Raines and her husband William of Oxford, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Matthew Cumella of Pelham, Alabama; and Sarah Armstrong and her husband Tyler of Jacksonville, Florida; one great grandchild, Lillian Armstrong of Jacksonville, Florida.

The loved ones who departed from this life before her include her parents, William Miller and Lillian Chaplin Miller, and three sisters: Christine Deal, Jackie Pierce, and Billie Hannah.

The staff at Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is honored to serve the family during this challenging season of life. Condolences may be expressed online on her Tribute wall at www.colemanfuneralhomeox.com
