Mr. Johnny DeWayne Messer, age 77, of Albertville, Alabama died on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at two o’clock pm at the McRae Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Russell Pinyan officiating. Interment will follow in Lathamville Cemetery. The visitation will be on Monday evening, October 13, 2025, from 6pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Messer was born in Albertville, Alabama on July 3, 1948, to John & Jayrena Peacock Messer. He was a proud 6-year Army veteran having served 2 tours in Korea. He retired after 27 years as a law enforcement officer having worked with various departments in Blount and Marshall Counties.
Mr. Messer is survived by Wife: Jean Messer of Albertville, Son: Larry (Tina) Messer of Boaz, Sister: Dianne (Archie Wayne) Patterson of Guntersville, Grandchildren: Matt Walker, Casey (Chasen) Walker, Josh Walker, Dakota Finch and Nick Nieto, 6 Great Grandchildren Niece: Deanna (Jim) Williams, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents: John & Jayrena Messer, Daughter: Tina Darlene Messer and Grandmother: Eva Peacock.
The pallbearers will be Matt Walker, Casey Walker, Chasen Murray, Dakota Finch, Nick Nieto, and Bentley Walker
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice, 408 Martling Road, Albertville, AL 35951.
