Carson "The Jelly Man" Messer

Carson McKliney Messer "The Jelly Man,' born August 11, 1948, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was a devoted member of Allens Baptist Church on Dark Hollow Rd serving as Sunday School Superintendent and Deacon. He loved his chuch family.

He was preceded in death by his parents John and Rachel B. Messer; brothers Rev. Frank Messer, Rev. Doug Messer, and Ronnie Messer; sisters Christine Ball and Hester Turner; mother-in-law Jennie Greene; father-in-law R.L. Greene; brothers-in-law Glenn Greene, C.B. Hall, and Steve Hall; nephews Joe Messer, Nick Hall, Larry Hembree, and Rickey Hembree; and great-nephew Daniel Messer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 ½ years, Ruby Messer; daughter Melissa Messer; granddaughter Rachel Messer; he loved and was so proud them; sister, Lola Hembree; brothers-in-law Jessie (Robin) Greene and Clyde (Debbie) Greene; sisters-in-law Vanessa Messer and Flora Messer; four special little ones that called him papa Laynee, Brookstyn, Addie, and Truett; loved ones that called him Uncle Carson. Along with several nieces and nephews that he loved as his own; and his girls, nieces Nichole Huff, Stephanie Greene, Loretta Valentine, Michelle Johnson, Jennifer Jessie, Jessica Stuart, and Ashley Ferguseon.

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. with funeral services following at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 in the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Large and Rev. Jackie Swanger officiating.

Burial will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2026 in the Messer Cemetery.
