*SERVICE CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER* Michael "Chris" Waggoner, age 30 of Jefferson City, passed away, Tuesday, January 27, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. He is home with Jesus.

He was saved at Byrams Fork Baptist Church and was a member of Fernwood Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father Steven Lynn Waggoner, Sr.; grandmother Minnie Childress; and stepfather Harold Woods, Sr.

He is survived by his wife Lindsay Waggoner of Jefferson City; son Silas Waggoner of Jefferson City; mother Wilma Woods of Maynardville; paternal grandparents Betty and Meryl Waggoner of Maynardville; maternal grandfather Roy Childress of Knoxville; mother-in-law and father-in-law Jana and Steve Johnson of Newport; brothers Steven (Kinsley) Waggoner, Jr. of Whitesburg, George (Amber) Childress of Knoxville, Dustin (Molly) Waggoner of Topeka, KS, and Ben Woods of Maynardville; sisters Faith (Kane) Long of Knoxville and Hope Waggoner of Maynardville; stepsiblings Julia (Luther) Davis of Norris, Harold (Norma) Woods, Jr. of Maynardville, William (Tosha) Woods of Maynardville, and Joseph (Heather) Woods of Maynardville; also several nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m., WEDNESDAY, February 4, 2026 with funeral services following at 7 p.m., at Fernwood Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Sonny Davis officiating.

Burial will be at 12 noon, THURSDAY, February 5, 2026 in Webb Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his son, Silas's Education Fund, c/o Lindsay Waggoner, Newport Federal Bank, 170 W. Broadway, Newport, TN 37821.

Family and friends may sign the guest register online at www.manesfuneralhome.com.

I was saddened to hear about Michael's passing Michael and I spent time together fooling with cars after work at my nephew's shop. My heart goes out to Michael's family for I know he will be missed greatly. John Cook
