Mickey Waggoner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home & Crematory on Jan. 30, 2026.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mickey Lee Waggoner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend. Mickey was born on January 9, 1944, in Littlefield, Texas, and he journeyed through life with a spirit full of adventure and a love for the outdoors until he departed this world on January 28, 2026, at the age of 82.
Mickey proudly served in the United States Air Force Reserve, a reflection of his commitment to serving his country. He dedicated 30 years of his career to A.K. Steel, where he worked as a Transportation Analyst, contributing to the steel manufacturing industry with his expertise and diligence.
In his free time, Mickey found happiness in the simple joys of life. He loved fishing, embracing the tranquility of nature, and often indulged in golfing, where he showcased his competitive spirit. A true lover of the outdoors, Mickey had a fondness for cutting the grass.
Mickey is survived by his loving wife Darlene, with whom he shared 28 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his children, Jason (Timara) Waggoner and Julie (Brandy) Reed, as well as step-children, Pete Catanzaro and Brian (Daina) Catanzaro. He was also grandfather to Andrew (Elizabeth) Waggoner, Jacob (Alivia) Waggoner, Alicia (Derek) Hammons, Casey Catanzaro, and Taylor Reed, finding joy in every moment spent with them. Mickey was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love. He is also survived by his brother Jimmy Doyle Waggoner.

Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, J. Paul and Gertie Waggoner.
