Blom, Paul H. passed away surrounded by his family on Feb. 10 at the age of 100. A lifelong Cincinnati resident, he leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary Ann (Garmann) Blom, 3 children, Paula (Keith) Baxter, Ann (Andy) Cordier and Tom (Anne) Blom. He was a devoted granddad to 13 grandchildren: Zach (Katie), Ben and Charlie Baxter; Joe (Mary), Marie (Grant) Foreman, Michelle, John, Rose and the late Sophia Cordier; Maggie, Celia, Eli and Vivian Blom; and 3 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of the late William J. (Betsy) Blom and the late Clara (Norbert) Weisbrod. He was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was a 1943 graduate of Roger Bacon high school and a US Navy WWII veteran. He returned home and joined the family business, working there until retirement. A lifelong member of St. Charles Borromeo in Carthage, he gave tirelessly to the school and parish serving in many ways; most notably serving in the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. He was a faithful Vincentian from 1957 until the pandemic of 2020. He also served as District President from 1962-1965. Later in life he enjoyed attending daily Mass, visiting with grandkids and socializing with friends at St. Pats K of C. As a devoted Catholic, Paul was the rock of the family and a spiritual inspiration to all who knew him.
Visitation will take place at the Hodapp Funeral Home 7401 Vine St., Carthage, Sunday, February 15th from 4PM until 6PM. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. James of the Valley 411 Springfield Pike, Wyoming, Monday, February 16th at 11AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: St. Vincent de Paul society, St. James of the Valley Conference or to Masses made to St. James of the Valley.
