Verna Lee Boyd (Hobbs) 91 passed away Sunday March 15, 2026 at Hospice Care, Mt Healthy Christian Home, Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was born July 31, 1934 in Vanceburg, Kentucky to the late Jacob and Hattie Hobbs. She married her beloved husband Bernie Boyd on September 16, 1953 who preceded her in death on May 30, 2007 at age 76.
Verna was also preceded in death by her treasured siblings Carl and Edna Hobbs, Harold and Skippy Hobbs, Doris and Vernon Gregory and Joy and Mel Reed.
She is survived by her dear sisters Phyllis Cox (Jerry, deceased) (Cincinnati) and Jan Meaban (Phil) of Texas, her nieces Carol Hobbs Hart (Richard) Colorado and Diana Hunt (Lloyd) Cincinnati. She is also survived by her children Russell (Debra) Boyd Mt Vernon OH and Teresa (John) Riestenberg. Her beloved grandchildren Jason (Taryn) Boyd (Mt Vernon). John M. Riestenberg and Eric (Kathryn) Wesley and great grandchildren Dillon and Juliet Boyd and Alex and Luke Wesley and many nieces, nephews and their children.
Verna proudly worked for the Procter and Gamble company for 30 years until her retirement in 1990. Verna had the proud distinction of being one of the first women to work the factory floor at the Ivorydale Plant. She worked the Depends brand and conducted many nursing home studies.
Verna’s Christian faith was a core element in her life guiding her with compassion and kindness in all that she did. Verna enjoyed singing in the choir at her church. She also enjoyed attending family reunions and helped organize for many years. And not to be forgotten her beloved UK basketball was a favorite pastime.
The family would also like to thank the staff at the Mt Healthy Christian Village Assisted Living and Hospice for their care.
Visitation will be Thursday March 19 at 11:00am until Funeral Service at 1:00pm at Lifespring Christian Church, 1373 W. Galbraith Rd North College Hill, Ohio with Pastor Dan Burton officiating.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Lifespring Christian Church.
