Funeral service for DeWayne Nightingale, age 80, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Grace Mennonite Church with Pastor Mike Sommerfeld officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery; service arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans funeral Home and Crematory.
DeWayne was born August 18, 1945, in Carnegie, OK to Elmer and Sophia (Koehn) Nightingale, and passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2025, in Enid.
DeWayne grew up on a farm, and attended Carnegie schools, and he graduated from Carnegie High in 1963. He was active in sports, playing football, basketball, and baseball. He was also in 4H, where he showed pigs. He married Barbara Buller on October 9, 1965 in Enid.
DeWayne worked at Bank Lumber for twenty years, and then worked at Athey Lumber for twenty years. Dewayne enjoyed photography, playing harmonica, and listening to music, especially the Gaither's. DeWayne was a long-time member of Grace Mennonite Church, where he sang in the church choir, men's chorus, octet, and quartet. He was the Sunday School Treasurer for over fifty years.
DeWayne is preceded in death by his parents; brother Orlin; and sister Jeanne. He is survived by his wife Barbara, of sixty years; children, Robyn (Brian) White, Kelly (Michael) Noak, and Branden (Michelle) Nightingale; brother Danny (Gail), sister Bonnie (Kenny) Dyck; six grandchildren, Brooke, Nehemiah, Lauren (Preston), Abbey, Isaiah, and Samantha; and numerous relatives and friends.
Memorial Contributions in DeWayne's name can be made to Youth and Family Services, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as the funds.
