Dewey Carl Benson, D.O., left our world and went to God on January 28, 2023. He was 87 years old.
He was a gentle soul and always wanted to help people. So he went to medical school in Chicago, where he became an anesthesiologist. He worked his way through medical school and residency with no monetary help. It was a difficult path but he walked it with grace.
He remained in Michigan after his residency until Texas called him and he moved to Forth Worth. After that, it was Colorado and the mountains and then back to Michigan. In Michigan he worked at Burns Clinic before becoming the Antrim County Medical Examiner, a position he proudly held for many years.
He leaves behind his former wife, Phyllis, his son Dewey and wife Ida, his daughter Kristen and husband Dan, his sister Carol, and his granddaughter Ashley.
Preceding him in death was his daughter Debbie.
He loved his family and his family loved him.
A private goodbye will be held by his family as he requested.
Memorial contributions may be made to Help From My Friends, 3605 S. Derenzy Rd., Bellaire, MI, 49615.
