Dewey Henry Riley Jr., lovingly known as “Bubba,” passed away on January 20, 2025, at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, Louisiana. Born on August 19, 1954, in San Angelo, Texas, Dewey was a resident of Stephensville, Louisiana, where he built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Dewey was preceded in death by his parents, Nora and Dewey Riley; his brother, Robert Eugene Riley; his father-in-law, Junius Acosta; his mother-in-law, Ella Acosta; and his brother-in-law, Ricky Acosta.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Laura Riley, his loving children, Trisha Riley, Bobby Riley and his wife Melanie, and Sabrina Riley Merchant and her husband Curtis. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Celena Riley Rock, Seara Riley, Amber Merchant, Bradley Riley and his wife Lexie, Harley Son and her husband Chandler, Savannah Riley Arceneaux and her husband Jesse, and Alayna Riley. His great-grandchildren—Jacqueline Rock, Ella Rock, Caroline Rock, Veronica Riley, Lathem Riley, Laila Son, and Connor Riley—will carry on his legacy of joy and kindness. His brother-Fred Riley and sister-Donna Catrett. His sister-in-law, Charlotte Riley. He is also survived by his loyal Labrador retriever, Bubba, who was his constant companion.
Dewey was a man who found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—hunting, fishing, and spending time on the water. He loved hosting gatherings at his beloved “Life of Riley Camp,” where his friends and family often came together to create lifelong memories. To know Dewey was to know a man who never met a stranger. His warmth, humor, and genuine love for people left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.
A celebration of Dewey’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 27, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home with Brother Bert Carter Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m., until 8:00 p.m., and again Monday, January 27, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services. After services, Dewey will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. In honor of his memory, the family invites you to share your stories and memories at the gathering. After graveside services, family and friends are welcome back to the funeral home for a reception.
Dewey’s presence lit up every room, and his love knew no bounds. He will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and a man who truly lived the “Life of Riley.”
