Dansville- Dewey D. Davis age 85, passed away late Sunday evening March 9, 2025, at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center.
He was born in Bath, NY on May 9, 1939, a son of the late Stephen and Lorena (Cobb) Davis. He was also predeceased by a sister Donna Ludwig, and two brothers Stewart Davis and Walter Jordan. On April 29, 1961, he was married to Jeanette Kimbel Davis, who survives.
Dewey was a US Air Force veteran. He was retired from International Salt in Retsof, where he had worked as a mechanic. After retirement Dewey owned and operated Dewey's Locksmith Service. He was a former member of the Moose Club, the Perkinsville Rod and Gun Club, the Boy Scouts of America, the NRA and the Theodore Vantassel Post of The American Legion. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing musical instruments.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette, a daughter Cheryl Schmoll, a son Stephen (Lenora) Davis, a brother Bernard (Andrea) Davis, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Dansville Foursquare Church, where a funeral service will take place at 11:00 am. Interment will be in Greenmount Cemetery, in Dansville. Arrangements are by the Hindle Funeral Home, Inc., 271 Main St., Dansville. Online memorials may be left at HindleFuneralHome.com.
In lieu of flowers please make memorials to the Foursquare Church, 49 West Ave., Dansville, NY 14437 or a veterans affairs office.
