Dewey Edgar "Beau" Straley Jr.

Dewey Edgar Straley, Jr., known as Beau, passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on February 25, 2026, in McKinney, Texas, from pneumonia as a complication of late-stage Parkinson's. He was born December 30, 1944 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to parents Dewey E. Straley, Sr. and Hazel Faust.

Beau grew up in Alabama, Florida and Louisiana, graduated from Louisiana State University and retired as a mechanical-electrical engineer from Ensco International in 2010. He traveled all over the world working within the offshore oil-drilling industry. He also loved being a private pilot flying his experimental home-built Varize and his beloved Bonanza V-tail, as well as gliders. He was a longtime member of the Midlothian Soaring Club. He earlier also served in the United States Air Force.

Beau is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Cox Straley of McKinney, Texas; niece, Straley Magill Grafton and husband, Tate of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and many extended family, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Straley, sister, Susan Straley Magill, and his parents.
