Dewey was born on August 8, 1946, on Harkers Island, North Carolina. He was a hardworking Captain who made his living on the water as a commercial fisherman, a career he thoroughly enjoyed throughout his life.

Outside of his love for fishing, Dewey enjoyed watching NASCAR, and rooting for the Carolina Panthers and the Carolina Tar Heels. And of course, no matter what he did, he loved having his companions, Blue and Sissy, by his side.

Dewey was a loving father, proud grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cherished his family and the time spent with them.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Vancy Willis Boyd (Tom Parker), Rebecca Willis, and Deidra Priddy (Drew), all of Newport, NC; sister, Anna Earhart of Smithfield, VA; brother, Joseph M. Willis (Sharon) of Lilburn, GA; grandchildren, Christopher Fobes, Dylan Willis, Samantha Boyd, Ella Priddy, Sadie Priddy, Declan Priddy, Melody Priddy, and Kerrianna Willis; great-grandchild, Lacey Clark; former wife, Julia Clark (David); and furry friends, his cat, Sissy and dog, Blue.

Dewey was preceded in death by his mother, Emma Dee Willis; son, Dewey Wayne Willis Jr.; sisters, Vancy Fasano and Rosemarie Fasano; and brothers, Steven Fasano and Jack Fasano.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome, or donations may be made in Dewey’s memory to the Carteret County Humane Society.

Family and friends are welcome to submit online condolences at www.mundenfuneralhome.net.
