Charles Bennett Baswell, 84, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
A celebration of life service to honor Charles’ life will be held at 12:30 p.m., Friday, February 13th at Alabama National Cemetery.
Charles was born on November 23, 1941, in Pell, Alabama, to the late Allton and Beuna Baswell. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and continued his service in the reserves. Following his military career, Charles devoted many years to Civil Service, where he worked as a helicopter mechanic and was known for his dedication and professionalism.
In his earlier years, Charles enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors. He valued fellowship and was a devoted member of Ocean Masonic Lodge #405, where he appreciated the bonds he formed with his fellow Masons.
Charles was a loving husband of 25 years, a devoted father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be remembered for his strength, integrity, and deep commitment to his family and community.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Vivian Matthews Baswell; daughter, Renee Bledsoe (Bobby) of Prattville, AL; son, David Baswell (Leslee) of Clanton, AL; stepdaughters, Karen Creech (Tony) of Clayton, NC and Wanda Guthrie of Newport, NC; step-son, Kemp Guthrie of Beaufort, NC; grandchildren, Ashley Pina (John), Morgan Duckett, Alisa Duck (Colton), Kiera Phillips (Justin), Monica Baswell; step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Crumpton and Emilee Crumpton; and great-grandchildren, Bennett Phillips and Wrenley Duck.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ruth Jordan and brother, Arthur Ray Baswell.
