Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Trinity Outreach Ministries, 499 Jarrell Street, Picayune, MS 39466. Visitation will be held Friday, January 16, 2026 at Brown’s Funeral Home, 1011 Rosa Street, Picayune, MS 39466 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, January 17, 2026 from Noon to 1:00 p.m.Pastor Carl Flowers will officiate at the services. Interment will be in the New Palestine Cemetery.

Dexter Bernard Burnett was born August 15, 1964 to late Delos and Marvis Burnett.

Dexter Bernard Burnett, age 61, of Picayune, MS transitioned on Sunday, January 4, 2026 embraced by his loving and devoted family at Highland Community Hospital.

He was a proud graduate of Picayune Memorial High School and Maroon Tide Football Player. Dexter was known as a hardworking man who spent his life working as a welder, mechanic, construction worker and tree remover. He was never afraid of hard work and was always willing to help anyone in need.

In his free time, Dexter enjoyed fishing, hunting, and car racing. He loved the outdoors and found joy in simple moments spent doing what he loved.

He leaves to cherish his memories, his beloved wife, Evelyn Burnett of 31 years; his children, Cindy Waller Burnett, Jessica Lewis, Keisha Waller, and Justin Waller; 8 grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Dexter will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and his kind and generous heart.  He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
